Grape Stomping Fun Lunch  March 11th  Starts 12 noon

Give your tootsies a thorough scrub before making haste to Angas Plains Toes in the grapes

wines to get up to your ankles in grape juice.

With the focus kept firmly on having the best kind of messy fun.
Our annual grape stomping lunch kicks off 12 noon 11th March 2012.

Grape Stomping, probably the only part of winemaking that is as enjoyable as quaffing the end result.
Toss all shoes aside and climb up the ladder and stomp on the grapes. Kids will have a blast too, so bring the whole family along for a hilarious day out.

The French might refer to this particular aspect of the winemaking process as pigeage but at Angas Plains Wines we prefer you just jump in feet first and give the grapes a good old gleeful stomping. Don't worry the juice is not used to make our great wines, we water our garden with it. It is all about enjoyment and having fun, some say it is on their bucket things they must do.

We prefer that our winemaker Peter Douglas crushes our grapes and carefully cares for the juice during ferment without any feet being used.

PlattersAll our range of wines will be available for tasting and purchase on the day. They will compliment the lunch and you can take some home for another day.  Beer soft drinks and tea and coffee also.

Our freindly staff will serve you, so you can relax and enjoy the gourmet lunchwhich this year is a Tapas. Meaning many dishes of scrumptious food served on platters to your tables during the afternoon. Salt & Pepper Squid & Garlic Prawns Lamb meatballs and Vegetable Frittata plus more yummy dishes and sweet delights that our Chef will be cooking on the day.

Linda McCarthy has entertained everyone at our grape stomping for th epast 8 years and is back again this year.  Linda is fantastic. A beautiful voice and she combines the music to the stomping, your toes will be tapping or dancing on the old shearing shed floor.

Vintage Update

The grapevines and the crop is looking very good and our fingers are crossed that the wet cool weather disappears and we have a fine vintage.

We expect to start picking the Chardonnay at the end of next week for our PJ's Unwooded Chardonnay and the reds will follow on into March.

Just  Released and our best Shiraz yet.   -  PJ's Shiraz 2008

Angas Plains Estate PJ's Shiraz 2008 is now on tasting at our cellar door.
2008 was a good growing season and we harvested these grapes prior to the extreme heatwave which effected many other wines.

This wine was made as a small 10 tonne batch in a open fermentor for 8 days. Pressed off the skins and matured  for 14 months in a combination of American Oak and French oak barrels.

James Halliday scored this wine 95 points and wrote" Strong, deep red-purple, a complex, rich wine from start to finish, plum and blackberry fruit is cradled by ripe tannins and positive oak on the medium to full bodied palate, all the components in balance." Gold Medal Sydney Wine Show 2010, Silver Medal Royal Adelaide Wine Show 2009.  Screwcap 14.5% alc.

Taste now at cellar door or order and have us deliver it to your door. $25.00 per bottle.
