PJ's News
Christmas is rapidly approaching and before another year has disappeared we will let you know of some recent happenings at our vineyard and winery cellar door.
2009 has been a very successful year for our organisation, we have achieved some major recognition for our wines and cellar door.
Angas Plains Special Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2006 received the trophy for the best Cabernet in Langhorne Creek and went on to achieve Champion of the Showcase for Langhorne Creek 2009.
PJ's Cabernet Sauvignon 2006 made its way into the Advertiser Top 100 Wines for 2009 with 94 points and Angas Plains Estate is listed as a 5 star winery in the Wine Companion Book 2010 by James Halliday.
We are very proud and excited to tell you about our Special Shiraz Release, the Angas Plains Emily Cross Shiraz 2007
James Halliday has already tasted this wine and written a tasting note in his Wine Companion 2010
"Crimson-purple: has the typical generosity of flavour and velvety texture of Langhorne Creek at its best; plum and blackberry are supported by good oak handling. Top outcome for the vintage. Screwcap 14% alc. Rating 94 point cellar upto 2020."
This wine is dedicated to Emily Cross, Phillip's Mum a lady also with a wonderful array of characteristics, generosity, strength of character and resilience.

This is an appropriate wine with that something special to form this dedication and one we believe you will enjoy. Released on the 6th December with strong sales so don't miss out, available now $39.95 per bottle.

This is a beautiful time of the year in the vineyard, as the new vine growth is fresh and vibrant with the flowering finishing and millions of berries have formed.

Keeping the vineyard looking in great shape has many requirements not the least of which is supply adequate water. Over the last year or so we employed many strategies to overcome the problem with lack of quality water from Lake Alexandrina. Recently we purchased an entitlement for water delivery from the new pipeline jointly developed with the Federal Government and local irrigators. Delivering River Murray water from Tailem Bend to our region as a replacement for pumping water from the lake.
The joy of sitting with a glass of wine (and friends if you choose) and looking out over the vineyard has been appreciated by many of our visitors. In fact the desire to do just this, has necessitated that we extend our Cellar Door Verandah to accomodate more visitors.
The verandah has been completed and extension of the paved area is happening now, with clear blinds to be installed shortly. This addition to our amenities at our evolving cellar door, will be fantastic as you can come and relax under shelter with the views without the strong breeze.
