Winestate Trophy
for Angas Plains Estate
PJ's Cabernet Sauvignon 2006

PJ's News

Our stocktake has just been completed and we are getting out the wines which have been stored in the back of our underground cellar in readiness for Langhorne Creek's cellar treasure weekend which is on the 14th & 15th August.

And it made me reflect a little over the past vintages and the many vintages of red wine that we have produced and is aging for you to drink in coming years. I had visitors in this week that wanted wine that had been aged correctly and is ready for them to drink in the coming year or two, and thought you might like some of this also.

As everyone reading this can't get to visit us on the one weekend, we are offering to send them to you together with any other wines in our range. You can select your own mix on our secure online shopping cart .Range Wines

Winter in the vines Pruning is finished except for our roses at the end of the vines,
Phil complains about these each spring as he needs to be extra careful not to kill the
roses when he is spraying for weeds. Spiders in the vines
However each year Judy is keen to get a few long stemmed red roses
and this may be the only way.
I am sure some girls can understand this.

Our chardonnay vines are always left to be pruned just at bud burst
so to delay the bursting a little with the idea that this may help us avoid frost damage in September.

Our dams are full of water and the ground is wet from good rains in the past week, so the vines are happy.

Spider’s are good natural predator’s that help with our pest management in the vines. Phil took this photo early in the  morning.

End of Pruning Party is this Sunday 25th July ..and oh what a party we have planned.

Carol & Judy are cooking a scumptious 3 course lunch  for everyone which includes Damper twirled on a vine cane, Seafood or Rack of Lamb and explosive Molten Chocolate Cake or Sticky Date Puddings and some mulled wine will be simmering.

We have booked South Australia's top Bluegrass band Bluegrass Junction with Nick Cawthorne’s Australia's best bluegrass guitarists, drives the rhythm on guitar and Trevor Warner three time Australian bluegrass banjo champion and a superb bluegrass fiddler, together with Bridgeland brothers Geoff on banjo and John on mandolin.

Tables still available so phone 8537 3159 or 0438754350 to book $55/pp for lunch & music.

Vine canes will be burning on a fire so it will be warm and cosy, a great way to share a afternoon with friends. Enjoy a bottle of Angas Plains Wine, all wines are available by the glass or bottle at cellar door prices as well as Beer , Soft drinks and exordinary Coffee.

We are also offering music and a PJ's Platter for $25.00 for visitors who can't come for the full afternoon.

Music starts at 1 pm. Check the website for more details http://www.angasplainswines.com.au/Events

Upgrades at our Cellar Door

The area is getting known as PJ's Cellar as it is now fully enclosed with cafe blinds PJ's Cellar and it has taken on its own identity. PJ's Cellar has a large pot belly stove that opens up as an open fire that is now installed and the fire burns very well making it a cosy warm setting for lunch. The work continues on minor improvements with the latest being a very large photo taken by Karen, Judy's daughter which is just stunning on the wall.  The lovely views over the vineyard sweeping up to the hills, is very relaxing. You are invited to come and enjoy a wine and the tempting dishes from our menu or the special board.
Cellar Door Now Open 7 days per week 11 am to 5 pm
